ERCo provides expert technical assistance to companies and aids them in obtaining government funds to support their R&D efforts. Some recent examples are:

• IDEX scrap decoater and dryer: An innovative scrap metal decoater and dryer which results in a 56% reduction in energy use as well as reductions in emissions and dust formation. (Co-funded by DOE and NYSERDA.)

• Lexington Stack Melter: Consulting services to Lexington Die Casting Co. resulted in a furnace design that uses 47% less energy than a comparable furnace. (Funded by NYSERDA.)

• SenCer UltraTemp Furnace: Aided in developing and marketing a new refractory material for furnaces and other applications. (Funded by NYSERDA.)
  
  
• Advanced Crucible Furnace for the Hand-blown Glass Industry
  ERCo completed a project to install and test an advanced Crucible Furnace to replace a conventional tank furnace, at Beacon Glass Works, Inc. (Beacon, NY). The project led to a 32% reduction in energy use and significant improvement in glass quality. Work is continuing on obtaining a crucible material that will better withstand the high temperatures and corrosion from the glass melt. This project was cofunded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
